The Overview
Pay Per Call is a brand new (created in 2005) form of advertising
that offers exciting potential to both advertisers, and marketers
who can produce results.
With Pay Per Call advertising, you're investments are completly
performance based. The marketing company does all of the leg
work to capture the market and drive the user to call your office
for help with their needs. Since the marketing company is only
compensated for trackable results (incoming phone calls from potential
customers), all other factors concerning online marketing are
of no concern. With Pay Per Call, you no longer have to worry
about CPM rates, click-thru rates, cost per click, or conversion
rates. You simply pay a flat rate for each phone call driven
to your company.
Trackability makes this a most appealing option. The way it works
is simple. The marketing company assigns a dedicated toll-free
number to your company, which routes to your local number. This
toll-free is used by the marketing company in all of its online
efforts relating to your business. Whenever a potential customers
calls the toll-free number - they reach you directly. The marketing
company has complete records from the phone bill and can show
without bias the number of phone calls driven to your company,
and the total talk time on these phone calls.
Currently, there are no companies dedicated to the group travel
industry that offers this service. Perhaps this will change soon...

Pro's
- 100% performance based - if the marketing company does not
drive phone calls to your office, they are not compensated.
- No commissions - just flat rates per phone call since conversions
are the sole responsibility of the marketing company, you can
focus your time on closing the business instead of marketing
conversions and buy rates.
- You capture the customer while they are HOT and in buying
mode.
- As busy as life is today, they're not going to be calling
you to chat about the weather. They have a need and want to
know if you can fulfill it.
Con's
- Fraud is potentially a problem. The marketing company should
also be able to provide you the phone numbers of the incoming
calls on the program. if you're being charged for phone calls
coming from the same number over and over, there probably is
a problem.
- Your phones must be answered. Unless you have the manpower
to take the phone calls - this option will not be beneficial
to your company.
- There are currently few options for this type of marketing:
AOL has just recently initiated the program (though not available
yet), and 'Net Profits, Inc.
